20 weeks! We made it halfway!!!

We had our 20 week ultrasound on wednesday at 9:30 am! Everything went great, except that the baby was being stubborn just like his/her daddy and wouldn't let the nice doctor see the spine so we had to go walk around the hospital, had lunch at subway and went back at one to see if the baby had moved. The doc was able to see the spine finally and said that everything looks perfect! When she was taking the pics for us to take home the baby was being so perfect, we got two amazing pictures of the baby's profile!! My mom says the baby looks more like me, with my nose and chin, but Rob's mom says the baby has most of Rob's features with my nose. What do you think?
We've been so busy lately with cub scouts, and getting ready for the baby, I don't even know where this week went! Since my last post, we've bought the crib and the Pack 'n Play, and every time I go to the store I buy a few little things like crib sheets, burp cloths, and recieving blankets. We still have quite a bit left to buy for the baby but most of it is the smaller, less expensive stuff like clothes, diapers, bottles, and all of the other little neccessities for diaper changes and bath time. We still have to buy the car seat, but we have to order that online since the bx doesn't have the one we'd prefer to have.

We went to the German Toys-r-Us last week and I was surprised to see their selection of baby stuff in the babies-r-us section! They had quite a few cute clothes and they had lots of winnie the pooh stuff, including wall border, which I was originally planning to order online, but I'll be buying it at the store instead. The only thing I don't like about the toys-r-us here, is that all of the toys that talk, all speak german so we'll still be choosing from our limited selection of toys at the bx for the most part. The exchange rate is also pretty crappy here lately so it's a lot cheaper to buy what we can on base.

Last weekend the "Nesting instinct" that I've been hearing so much about Finally came around! I got so much more energy, I was actually able to spend almost an entire day cleaning up and getting the house organized without getting tired. I did have to take a couple of breaks because my back was getting a little sore, but otherwise I felt great and I got a lot done! I've also started to gain some weight finally. I had lost 10 pounds in the first 16 weeks, and I've only gained about 3 of it back so far. My doctor said it was perfectly fine for me to lose weight early in the pregnancy, as long as I wasn't starving myself trying to lose weight.

Last friday I was laying in bed trying to fall asleep and I felt the baby kick from the outside!! It was the most amazing feeling in the world! Rob hasn't been able to feel the baby kick yet because he's always asleep when the baby is the most active and I don't want to wake him up when he has to be up by 5 every morning, but maybe we can get the baby to kick some more this weekend so he can feel it too!!

This week, our baby weighs about ten ounces and has a height (crown to rump) of about 6.5 inches. If the baby is a girl, her uterus is fully formed this week and her vaginal canal is starting it's development. If the baby is a boy, his testicles have begun their decent this week, though they're still located in the abdomen, waiting for the scrotum to finish growing so they'll have a place to drop into in a few weeks. Though the external genitals in a boy or girl still have a long way to go before they're fully developed, Rob was able to find out the baby's gender at the ultrasound exam!

I guess that's about all there is for now, we have a busy day tomorrow for cub scouts! Here are some new pictures!!

We love and miss you all very much! Remember to leave a comment so we know you're visiting!
Love,
Kayla, Rob, Baby and Zeus
